    Introduction

As we begin 2019, Neftaly is pleased to report on the continued development and growing strength of our strategic partnership with the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA). The past year laid a solid foundation through pilot programs, formalization of agreements, and strategic planning. In January 2019, our focus has shifted toward consolidation, scale-up preparation, and system strengthening to deliver impactful programming in collaboration with DBSA.

This report outlines January’s achievements, key developments, and planned next steps to accelerate progress.

    Strategic Focus: 2019 and Beyond

The Neftaly–DBSA partnership is moving into a more operational phase in 2019 with a vision to:

    • Expand proven pilot initiatives into additional provinces.
    • Strengthen infrastructure and digital inclusion in rural communities.
    • Drive local economic participation through youth-focused enterprise development.
    • Deliver measurable, sustainable impact through coordinated program delivery and monitoring.

    Key Updates – January 2019

      • Youth employment readiness improved by 68% among participants.
      • 42 micro-enterprises supported, with 30% showing early signs of profitability.
    • Based on these results, expansion plans have been scoped for KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, and Northern Cape in mid-2019.
